Flyers Star Connected To Maple Leafs

Recent reports suggest that the Toronto Maple Leafs are exploring trade options with the Philadelphia Flyers to bolster their forward lineup. One proposal involves acquiring veteran forwards Morgan Frost and Garnet Hathaway from the Flyers. In this scenario, the Maple Leafs would send Matt Benning, David Kämpf, and two draft picks—a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick—to Philadelphia in exchange for Frost and Hathaway.

Morgan Frost, selected 27th overall by the Flyers in the 2017 NHL Draft, has recorded 6 points (1 goal, 5 assists) in 16 games this season. However, he has recently been a healthy scratch, leading to speculation about his future with the team. NHL insider Kevin Kurz notes that trading Frost could benefit both the player and the organization, potentially providing him with more opportunities elsewhere.

Garnet Hathaway, known for his physical play, has contributed 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) in 19 games this season. His addition would enhance the Maple Leafs’ bottom-six forward group, adding size and grit to their lineup.

The proposed trade would address the Maple Leafs’ need for forward depth, especially considering injuries to key players like Auston Matthews. Matthews has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury and recently traveled to Germany for treatment, with hopes of returning to play soon.

It’s important to note that, as of now, this trade remains speculative, and no official agreement has been announced between the Maple Leafs and the Flyers.
