The cunning tactic Robin van Persie is deploying at Feyenoord to beat Leeds United to Junior Firpo 2.0 signing
One position that looks set to need bolstering is at left-back. Junior Firpo looks increasingly likely to leave Leeds United when his contract expires at the end of the season and that’ll leave Farke will nobody to play in that position, with Sam Byram also out of contractOne potential name who could replace Firpo and Byram at Elland Road is Hugo Bueno. On loan at Feyenoord from Wolves, the 22-year-old Spaniard has featured 18 times in the Eredivisie for Robin van Persie’s side this season, assisting three times.this summer. But so too is van Persie’s Feyenoord, and it seems like they could soon have the upper hand with journalist Valentijn Driessen suggesting that van Persie is handing Bueno more minutes than any other player in that position, in a bid to tempt him and Wolves into another loan deal next season.
Driessen said on De Telegraaf’s Kick Off podcast: “Maybe it’s to convince Bueno to stay [his recent involvement]. They can rent him for another year if necessary. If he only sits on the bench, it won’t work.”
