Brighton chased Deportivo La Coruna teenager David i’m Mella for a while in the summer transfer window but it didn’t lead to any reward.

After Brighton moved forward to pay clause, rush now on to renew player’s contract

The youngster had a release clause in his contract of €4m, and the Seagulls were willing to match it.

An agreement isn’t in place yet but more talks will take place soon to potentially reach one.

Brighton’s attempt was rejected by the player himself despite the fact that the Seagulls had agreed to pay the release clause. The youngster has a close connection with Deportivo La Coruna and wanted to continue his development there.
